• Meade horton van pelt


    Meade began as Executive Director on December 1, 2016. Meade comes to us after 21 years at Pitney Bowes, Inc. and is involved in the community through her church, Gregory Elementary PTA, The Ministering Circle, the Presbyterian Counseling Center board and much more. Meade holds a BA in Mass Communication/Media Studies from UNC Chapel Hill and a MBA Business Administration and Management from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Meade and her husband, Joel Van Pelt, have two children, Max and Josie.

  • Lindsay Prickett

    Director of development

    Lindsay Prickett joined the Harrelson Center team in February 2017. Lindsay and her family attend First Baptist Church Wilmington where Lindsay serves as Chair of the the Children’s Ministry Committee and she teaches Sunday School. She is also currently serving on the Board of Directors at The Children’s Museum of Wilmington, on the local JDRF Board of Directors and actively involved in The International School at Gregory PTA. Lindsay and her husband, Warren, have two daughters and they enjoy traveling and going to the beach.

  • christy aley

    community outreach coordinator

    Christy will serve as the liaison and information specialist educating and engaging our community, Harrelson Center nonprofit partners, neighbors, and volunteers for centralized and efficient collaboration. Christy joined the Center in March 2018 and was previously the Interim Worship Director at First Baptist Church, in sales, and in many volunteer roles with organizations in our community. Christy graduated from Appalachian State University with degrees in Psychology and music. She moved to Wilmington in 1996 where she met her husband, Austin Aley, who was the Harrelson Center 2017 Board President. They have two growing boys, Jack and Banks, and they enjoy adventurous family vacations.  Click here to contact Christy.

  • John robbins, jr.


    John Robbins, Jr. began as our Building and Maintenance Supervisor in the fall of 2017.  He has extensive maintenance experience, serving 17 years in the field. He has also served 20 years in the United States Air Force! John has one daughter and 2 grandchildren and loves motorcycling, golfing and the beach.

    Sonja volunteered with the outreach program at St. James Episcopal Church for many years. As the Help Hub Director, Sonja coordinates volunteers and the daily activities of the Help Hub. Sonja works part-time at The Harrelson Center and also works as a care coordinator.

    maintenance assistant & security

    Robert entered the Phoenix Hometown Hires program in 2015 and joined our staff shortly after to help with evening security & building maintenance. He is the father of two teenagers. Robert always wears a smile along with his security badge.

  • KimberLy Bandera

    Communications and Marketing Specialist

    Kim moved to Southport from Boston 17 years ago with her husband Rich to enjoy the warmer weather and the sailing. She worked with Communities In Schools of Brunswick County and Brunswick Community College. She has a background in marketing, teaching, and nonprofit management.

  • Kimberlie Thompson

    Hospitality and development

    Kimberlie and her husband Greg moved to Wilmington 2 1/2 years ago and love living downtown. She fell in love with the Harrelson Center after a tour with Meade and has been volunteering ever since! She and Greg have two children, Parker and Addie, who are both in school pursuing their love of the arts. Kimberlie loves traveling, cooking, and playing as much golf as possible.
