In 2020, Help Hub and Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear initiated a partnership that provides Help Hub and Partner clients with access to health resources, health education and medical referrals. Dental care, eye exams, affordable prescriptions, screenings, Medicaid enrollment, even fittings for prosthetics – this partnership assures that our neighbors have a healthcare advocate when they visit the Help Hub.
“Ours is a complex healthcare system but our partnership with Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear and their onsite nurse care manager helps clients find their way to the care they need,” says Help Hub Director Sonja McFarland.
“It may seem sometimes like we are assisting with something very small,” explains Megan Rose, PharmD, deputy director/Network Pharmacist of CCLCF. “But, just making the appointment for an eye exam, assures someone can get the glasses they need, which allows them to secure a drivers’ license, then a job interview, and ultimately transportation to and from that job.”
Healthcare is foundational. Together, the Harrelson Center’s Help Hub and Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear are addressing critical needs, large and small, to provide our neighbors that foundation.
