FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Harrelson Center to dedicate Sculpture at 4th and Market Streets
The Harrelson Center will be dedicating its sculpture, Hope, on Thursday, February 24 at 4:30 PM.
The 2,500 lb. steel sculpture was installed at the corner of Market and Fourth streets in October. The eight-foot-high rendering of the Harrelson Center’s logo was donated to the campus by Kyle McIntyre to honor his friend, Bobby Harrelson, who made the initial investment in the non-profit campus, naming it memory of his wife, Jo Ann Carter Harrelson.
The event formally dedicates the sculpture of a stylized dove exercising its wings as it gains strength for flight, representing those who are physically and spiritually nurtured when seeking support and resources at The Harrelson Center. Thirty-six humanitarian non-profits are currently partnered with The Harrelson Center with 21 located on campus.
A reception and art show and sale with artist Bob Timberlake will immediately follow the dedication at Plaza on Princess, the new event venue on the Harrelson Center’s campus. This art show will remain open on Friday as part of the Arts Council’s monthly Fourth Friday gallery walk.
