Connecting people to the resources they need

January 28th, 2024

After losing her apartment, Sarah, a quiet, soulful 71-year-old, stayed with her sister. Displaced again, Sarah got lost walking to the grocery. Walking and praying, she met Anne in a driveway and asked for directions. Anne offered to drive her to the store and learned that Sarah was sleeping in her car with no gas for 5 days. Anne connected her to Good Shepherd, but the shelter was full, so Anne paid for several nights at a hotel.

They came to the Help Hub for assistance. Since we do not have hotel funding, an advisor walked Sarah to The Salvation Army social services on campus. With their shelter pending construction, they have some funding to assist with short term stays, and Sarah was successfully housed at one of their partner hotels until Good Shepherd shelter can welcome her.

Together, we connect people to resources they need at critical moments.

How Can We Help?
